Round 6 Recap

Bentleigh 1s by Katherine Stanley (VC)

Our team came into this week enthusiastic for a strong game. Unfortuantely due to illness we were a few players down from our regular team. We welcomed Flynn into our team this week to assist in our mid-court, who played a fantastic (second!) game for the day!

The oppostion this week, Carrum Patterson Lakes were top of the ladder. They presented a tough defence all over the court which kept our scoring opportunities limited. After a tough first half, we went into the second half of the game with some renewed focus points. We used our voices on court, supported our team members and got many great turn overs. I’m very proud of of girls this week for a positive mindset and for the encouragement every player provided to each other. Unfortunately we couldn’t secure the win this week and are now looking forward to next Saturday to show Clayton what we’ve got with a full team back in action!

Final scores: Carrum Patterson Lakes 70 defeated Bentleigh 18

Bentleigh 2s by Rachael Saunders (VC)

After our first win of the season we were confident in what we can achieve as a group. We went in with two goals like the previous game but including what we had worked on in training. Our two goals were still to work on being loud on the court and looking long down the court to our advantage. We went into the game knowing our opponent would come out strong as Dingley always does. This week we had 8 players again with Kaitlin still being unable to play.

Once again, our defence was brilliant with Bec and Ash continuing to work fantastically together. With Ash floating in front tall defenders to cut off the passes of the other team. The work of this defence team is giving us more chances to score more goals.

The midcourt team of Larissa, Sinead, Flynn and Taryn continues to grow in confidence with both their attacking a defending skill. Providing solid pressure down the court and strong leads in front. These girls provided strong intercepts down the court to get the ball back before it got to Dingley’s goals.

Tahlia and Rachael continue to work together strongly knowing where the other one is going and blocking each other’s defenders so that one can be free for a pass. Tahlia’s run down the court was strong and the defence started double teaming her, but we continue to get free and work together as a team to work through there defence tactics.

We got our second win for the season and our teamwork is growing and so is our confidence, as a team I could not be prouder of us and the way we are playing together. Look out Lyndhurst who we play on Thursday night.

Final scores: Bentleigh 45 defeated Dingley 39
