Return to community Netball update

Netball Victoria is pleased to release the updated the Return to Community Netball guidelines, following the recent Victorian Government announcements regarding the lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions.  We are excited to have a road map which paves the way for the return of community sport in Victoria.

The way that our netball community has adopted Netball Victoria’s Return to Community Netball guidelines has been fantastic, and shows a commitment to ensuring the safe return to play.

We understand that our sport is reliant on local community input and a dedicated workforce of volunteers, and it is our aim to provide information and resources to support the return of community netball.

To this end, Netball Victoria will once again be hosting a number of information sessions to inform and educate Affiliates on the protocols for a safe return to netball and to ensure that you are comfortable with your role in this.

As you will most likely know, from last Monday, 22 June:

  • Indoor venues could open for the purpose of sport and recreation;

  • People under the age of 18 were able to resume full contact training and competition, at both indoor and outdoor venues;

  • Adults 18 years and over could participate in non-contact training in groups of up to 20 - plus a coach - at both indoor and outdoor venues.

Adults will have to wait a little longer to return to competition.  We expect further clarification on this in July.

Netball Victoria Affiliates and Clubs are required to adhere to the Return to Community Netball guidelines.  Naturally, we will continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of both the individuals involved our sport, as well as the wider community as we work toward a safe return to training and competition in this new COVID-19 environment.

All Return to Community Netball information and resources can be found on the Netball Victoria website.

Netball Victoria continue to engage with AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria and other sporting organisations around the return to community sport, and we encourage you to continue working together to adopt the best approach for your local community.

We are eager to get back to the game we love, and we look forward to working with our Associations, Leagues and Clubs to ensure our return to the court is as seamless as possible.

For further advice on how your Association or Club can return to play, please contact participation@netballvic.com.au.

Further announcements around the easing of restrictions, including the return to competition details for adults, will be made in July, pending further government announcements.

Participants should not return to netball if, in the last 14 days, they have been unwell or have had close contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.  We encourage everyone to maintain physical distancing and keep up good personal health and hygiene practices.

BENTLEIGH RSL

Our establishment offers a welcome respite from the busy Centre Rd of Bentleigh. Named as Sub-Branch of the year 2013, against many strong contenders, our establishment upholds the values ingrained in the RSL culture as well as those virtues exhibited by many members during service for our country.
