Men’s Football wrap up | Round One

Senior Men’s Football

Bentleigh (12.08.80) Vs. St.Pauls (08.11.59) | Bentleigh Reserve

A perfect opening to the season for our senior team getting the chocolates against local rival St. Paul’s.

In blistery conditions, wind and rain, it was evident early that we were quicker on foot and matched it with them physically all over the ground.

Our rucks were dominant , small forward as dangerous as ever on the deck. We went into the 1/2 time break with a 6 goal lead.

We knew St. Paul’s would throw everything at us in the 3rd quarter but we were up for it. We were suddenly challenged with the all the momentum swinging in their favour reducing our lead to 22 points at the 3/4 break.

The pleasing aspect was, and to our credit, we were able to wrestle the momentum back in our favour by winning the critical moments in the last after St Pauls got within 10 points.

A Bentleigh team that hasn’t all played with each other before showing very promising signs with lots of upside.

Our backs and mids stood up when the pressure was on.

The 3 debutants , Hastings , Erharter, and Waldren all proved that they are not out of place.

A fitting way to celebrate Moggas 250th with a 21 point win.

The buz and vibe is back at Bentleigh.

Well done to both under 19 sides getting the wins.

It’s next week for the development team that performed gallantly but went down by a goal.

How good is footy? ❤️

Development Men’s Football

Bentleigh (4.6.30) Vs. St.Pauls (5.5.35) | Bentleigh Reserve

While the Development team didn’t get the 4 points and the W, there were plenty of positives signs for a team that had 8 new players named for the first time.

Our effort & endeavour couldn’t be questioned but we just lacked a a bit of polish & composure going forward which we will work on this week on the track!

All our new players, including the u19s that played their first senior game were impressive in parts and we can’t wait to bounce back against East Malvern this week.

Bentleigh (103) Vs. Murrumbeena (26) | Bentleigh Reserve

After starting slowly where Murrumbeena kicked two quick goals, the team responded impressively despite facing early injuries. Our pressure, fitness and skills stood out in a performance where the backs, mids and forwards were in complete sync. Several players stood will be pushing their case at selection this week.

Fantastic first game, go Dees!

Under Nineteens Red

Bentleigh (69) Vs. Noble Park (63) | Bentleigh Reserve

A great hit out against premier eastern club Noble Park in what was a replacement practise match due to the round 1 forfeit of St Paul's. A hard fought, high standard match against quality opposition. Was great to see our boys rise to the challenge and physicality to win the match.
