Men’s Coaching appointments for 2020

On behalf of the Bentleigh Football and Netball Club Board and Committee, I’d like to take this opportunity to update members and supporters of recent developments within the club and football department that will no doubt further position us to be the premier club in the SFNL.

Club success is measured by Premierships. To accomplish this we must be pro-active our and focused. But we also must look to the future, and that future is firmly in our link to the Bentleigh Junior Football Club where we have an unprecedented 53 players aged between 17 and 20 coming through theBentleigh football ranks.

The talent within that playing group is the future of this Club and combined with the current crop of senior players puts us in an unbelievably exciting position to build

immediate and sustained success.   With this in mind I’m extremely excited to announce the following football department appointments:

• Brad Athelwood will take over the reigns of our newly named Development Team (formerly called Reserves) for the 2020 season.  Brad has excelled in his role as U19 coach in 2019 and with so many young players coming through our U17 and U19 pathways we are extremely excited at having Brad nurture and develop our young players so they excel in both the Development and Senior football teams as well as continue the development and improvement of our senior players who are not playing with the senior side.  Brad will announce his full assistant coaching team in due course.

• Liam Dimattina will take over from Brad as U19 coach for the 2020 season. Along with Brad, Liam has excelled in his role as U17 coach and is a great fit to take the reigns of our talented U19 group, many of which he coached in 2019.  Andrew Mcgaw will assist Brad and James white who was Liams assistant and Ben Cooper will assist the u19s in 2020.

• As previously mentioned, Peter Pirera will coach the BFNC senior side and we are excited to announce that both Kynan Ford and Michael Hogan will again assist Peter in Assistant Coaches roles in 2020.

We thank Steve Hall for his dedication and contribution as Reserves Coach.  Steve has been a much loved person and coach with the BFNC. We hope Steve will assist the football dept in another role in 2020  The future and success of our Club is built on a firm vision which underpins our values to ensure we strive to obtain our rightful place in Football History.

Win or lose, our endeavours will forge a strong Club tradition and culture, built on the back of honest and unconditional effort on and off the playing field.

Warmest regards,

Paul Dimmatina
