2020 Coaching Application Form

In accordance with Club procedure, applications are now open for all teams being fielded in Season 2020.

All persons who wish to nominate for a coaching position for the 2020 football season must complete this form and the 2020 Coaches Agreement form.

Applications are open for age groups between U8 and U17 including U10,12,and 14 girls teams*.

*No team will be fielded in the U14 mixed age group or U16 and U18 girls unless numbers present.

The U10 mixed and U12 mixed age groups will be expecting to field multiple teams (2 each).

Applications must be received no later than Wednesday 23rd October 2019. Once completed please return to the Club Secretary by email at

Mandatory All successful applicants must have a current “Working with Children Check” prior to taking up their appointment– forms are available on line and lodged at any Post Office.

Applicants are advised all coaches and assistant coaches must have completed or undertaken to complete a current AFL Level 1 Coaches Course (“the course’) prior to season’s commencement.


In the event multiple applications are received for an age group, interviews will be held by an independently appointed coaching panel.

As always, the club encourages aspiring coaches to liaise between themselves where it is thought there may be multiple candidates.

Appointed Coaches and Assistant Coaches will receive a Bentleigh Soft Shell Coaching Jacket and a BJFC Polo and may claim accreditation fees on completion of the course.

2020 Coaches Agreement (Must be completed with application. Please initial each item to demonstrate full understanding of coaching code expectations.)

I (Name), ..............................,am applying for a coaching position with the Bentleigh Junior Football Club (BJFC) for season 2020 acknowledge that, should I be appointed to a coaching position, I will abide by the following:

1. I will, in my role as a BJFC coach, respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals

including refraining from any discriminatory practices on the basis of ability, race, religion, ethnic background, or disability.

2. I will abide by and support the AFL Laws of the Game, the AFL Coaches Code of Conduct (to be signed on appointment), the rules of the Southern Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL), and the rules and Policies of the BJFC.

3. As a BJFC coach I am required to:

• Maintain team discipline and instruct players to play within the rules and club policies

• Promote sportsmanship towards opposition teams

• Comply with the Codes of Conduct and / or behaviour Policy prescribed by AFL Victoria. 4. I am to follow all coaching Guidelines and Policies as set down by the BJFC and committee

6. I am to oversee the fair and equitable application of voting by team officials and volunteer

parents ensuring that bias in voting will not be tolerated and that players are rewarded for both on and off field attitude, commitment, fairness, teamwork as well as skill and ability and sportsmanship.

7. I will use best endeavours to keep club members informed of the team’s progress via a game

day report acknowledging the team’s performance and key contributors at the conclusion of each game;

8. I understand the importance of refraining from the use of the offensive language and

behaviour when addressing BJFC and opposition players, officials, parents and spectators or SMJFL officials and umpires;

9. I am to communicate to parents and guardians of players in my charge the philosophy and

objectives of both the club and myself;

10. I am to encourage parents and guardians of any children in my charge to approach me directly

at reasonable times (not during scheduled games) to discuss any issues pertaining to the team or their child;

11. I will comply with all requirements of the BJFC and the club in relation to coaching level

accreditations and will complete a current AFL Level 1 Coaches Course.

12. I will lead by example in showing strong sportsmanship to opposition teams no matter what

the result of any game.

13. I understand that breaching Club or League policy, particularly through abusive language,

unsportsmanlike behaviour or breaking SMJFL rules will result in the review of my position by the Committee with potential for suspension or dismissal.
